Analysing intracellular molecular diffusion

Olympus has introduced the new Diffusion Measurement module for Olympus ASW 2.1 software. Designed specifically for use with the Olympus FluoView FV1000 confocal microscope system for live cell imaging, this new software module provides users with the flexibility to undertake three different types of diffusion study: point fluorescence correlation spectroscopy; raster scan image correlation spectroscopy (RICS) and fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP). As a result, the Diffusion Measurement Package is ideal for a broad range of cell biology and biophysics applications.

GE Healthcare launches new Mag Sepharose beads

GE Healthcare has launched His Mag Sepharose Ni, Protein A Mag Sepharose Xtra, and Protein G Mag Sepharose Xtra magnetic beads. The new magnetic beads provide high binding capacity, for fast separation and high quality results.

The highly visible, dense beads provide superior purity and yield, with easy parallel screening and high repeatability. Handling is simplified as rapid capture is facilitated by magnetic devices, and visibility ensures reliable collection of the bound proteins/antibodies. The process is easily scalable, enabling simple capture of target protein or antibody from low microliter to high-milliliter scale.

Microplate reader gives good data for leukaemia research

The Centre of Excellence for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research at Cardiff University’s Department of Haematology has given some very positive feedback about its Chameleon V bench top microplate reader from LabLogic Systems. “Having secured a large investment from Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research to study the causes of human myeloid leukaemia, we were fortunate enough to purchase this multi-functional item of equipment at an affordable price,” says postdoctoral research fellow Dr Paul Hole.
